AUO continues to develop energy solutions in order to capture the enormous opportunity in green energy arising from net-zero pledges worldwide. It announced today (Oct. 7) that its large-size, dual-glass, bifacial PV module, which is developed in collaboration with SAS and features high power generation efficiency and high weather resistance, has received the Voluntary Product Certification (VPC) as a high-efficiency module, as well as the Taiwan Excellent PV Award from the Energy Administration, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). This demonstrates the concerted efforts of both sides to strengthen the local green value chain in Taiwan and ensure the continued delivery of reliable and safe energy products. The product has also been shipped to clients, which is expected to boost business momentum from the second half of the year 2025.

Having been deeply involved in the energy market for a long time, AUO is engaged in product upgrades and production expansion plans in line with industry demands. In 2023, it reached a strategic partnership with SAS, and participated in the Taiwan Industry Innovation Platform Program, presented by the Industrial Development Administration of the MOEA, with the M10 N-Type Weather Resistance and High-Reliability Module Product Development Project. AUO's SunAlto Dual Glass Bifacial Photovoltaic Module is a large-size M10 TOPCon module made using high-efficiency monocrystalline TOPCon solar cells. With a power output of 490W, it is compatible with the solar cell technology characterized by high conversion efficiency and low attenuation. Its exceptional structural strength, high wind pressure resistance and high salt damage resistance make it an ideal choice for different fields such as roof, water surface and ground. It is a high-reliability module designed to adapt to Taiwan's island climate.

As a result of the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing technologies, the demand for stable and sustained power has grown sharply, which increases demand for high-efficiency, large-size cells and solar modules, according to TY Lin, General Manager of AUO Energy Business Group. The quality of AUO's PV modules has long been recognized by leading manufacturers in Taiwan and around the world. Besides its broad scope of application, the award-winning Dual Glass Bifacial PV Module has also been calibrated and certified by international tester suppliers and complied with Taiwan VPC quality standards and international reliability certification. Furthermore, through self-developed solar power monitoring system, both business and individual users can have timely and efficient access to power generation efficiency and make the most effective planning and resource allocation for subsequent maintenance operations.

Pedersen Chen, President of SAS, said that in Taiwan solar installation and solar power generation continue to hit record highs each year, driven by the global trend of net-zero and carbon reduction and catalyzed by the government’s energy autonomy initiative; this also urges players in the solar energy sector to continue improving their expertise. To meet the strong demand for AUO's large-size ultra-high-efficiency monocrystalline TOPCon cells, SAS promptly completed the equipment investment and production line construction for a full range of large-size N-type TOPCon ultra-high-efficiency cells in 2024. The average cell efficiency reaches 25.50%, the highest performance in Taiwan market. Looking forward, SAS stays committed to improving product quality and aligning with the global PV industry in response to the government’s energy transformation agenda.

Seeing the continued growth of solar installation and generation, AUO is not only committed to technological upgrades to fulfil market demand, but will also continue to expand its energy landscape and establish global presence in the future. The Company, through technological empowerment and the vertical integration of the energy value chain, aspires to offer customers a one-stop procurement experience and further secure the resilience of Taiwan’s local green energy industry.
