With approximately 1.1 million innovative organizations worldwide and over 61 million inventions, only 3,500 meet Clarivate's selection criteria, competing to be among the top innovators, surpassing 99.99 percent of global innovators. As one of the top 100 global innovators, AUO has amassed over 31,000 patent applications worldwide, with 97 percent of its R&D achievements being invention patents. For the past four years (2020-2023), AUO has consistently been listed in Clarivate’s "Innovators to Watch" report. In a first for Clarivate, rankings were released this year for the top innovators, with a more challenging selection criteria that goes beyond a quantity threshold to analyze patent influence, success, investment, and rarity, thoroughly assessing patent quality and contribution, where AUO not only ranked prominently but also led among Taiwanese companies.

Notably, the company submitted over 200 invention applications focused on Mini LED and Micro LED technologies, in addition to filing more than 20 invention applications related to automotive display innovations. Over the years, AUO's total number of green patents has exceeded those of the top 10 companies combined in this list.
